Ottawa, ON, Canada - June 6, 2008

White Box Robotics Inc. of Ottawa, Canada announced the issuance of United States Patent No. 7,413,040 entitled "Robot with Removable Mounting Elements." The patent contains 21 claims relating to the structure of the PC-BOT.

The 914 PC-BOT is the first general service robot designed for digital life in the home, at work and at school. The standards based, removable, interchangeable and easy access features, are the foundation of the PC-BOT. The torso chassis is equipped with 8 industry standard 5.25" bays, allowing for easy integration of off the shelf PC components and custom peripherals. The fold-down compartments allow for easy installation and access to hardware components.

White Box Robotics develops and markets the 914 PC-BOT and works with development companies and researchers who want to put mobile robotics to work inside their ecosystems and where complex data and processing is required. The PC-BOT family of products and the patented 914 PC-BOT design in particular, delivers a functional and visually stunning mobile robotic platform that leverages the open standards of the personal computer. White Box Robotics' technology delivers flexible and affordable mobile robots for commercial and educational markets.

"Obtaining this patent was key", said Richard Lepack, President of White Box Robotics. "This patent was essential for establishing PC-BOT as the only general purpose robot in it's class that can be used for anything from Research and Development, patrol and monitoring to a mobile home entertainment unit. This is a turning point away from proprietary robot development."
